Shawn Achor – “The Happiness Advantage: Linking Positive Brains to Performance
Here’s yet another great TED talk.
Shawn tells us about how to turn your sister into a unicorn while dodging a sniper’s bullet, teaches us about statistics and fake data (which, I admit, did intrigue me in my statistics studies: a topic for another day), moving goal posts, and happiness – al in 12 minutes!
He shows us our well followed formula = I’ll work harder, therefore become more successful, then, of course, be happier.
However (a nice word for BUT), happiness ‘is over our cognitive horizon’ and we need to reverse the formula (see 11:33).
He talks fast, is funny and makes a lot of sense.
I was reading about death bed regrets the other day … didn’t you …? Oh.
And among the top 5 or 10 (whatever… ) was I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
Dovetail this with Shawn’s message.
Time to reverse the formula.
